source of motivation

Centuries passed, civilisations modernised, species extinct.....but during all this course ,we the humans proved to be the long last survivors.
Actually we were the winners of the game-"Survival of the fittest".Here it goes totally wrong.Survival is too polite a word to say.It hides the fragrance of selfishness within. We never actually tried to survive. The ball never ever moved out of our court. One thing is for sure,we were always greedy for possessions. We were never ready to share nor do we now want to commit this error.
Do everything to acquire a resource;leave aside the wastage of another resource, time, the most important one of all, have been our policy till now and most probably will continue so in the future also. But tilt ur head back and  think-are we trying to maximise the utilisation of resource or the cost of utilisation of resource?.A bit confusing .Maxmise the utilisation and how come the cost not increase.Try the other way round. The same resource used simultaneously by many will obviously cost less time to get fully used up thereby minimising the time spent and maximising the efficiency of work.In first case motivaion is guided by greed solely aimed at acquiring the resource. The greed motivating a person to satisfy another greed. In the second case ,motivation guided by reason to maximise the utilisation.A reason motivating here,to satisfy a greed.
Ultimately ,the source of motivation comes out to be some sort of greed. Why not choose the second way.?.
